Teacher Training Course in Preparation for DITALS 1 and 2 Certification – On Campus

Our preparatory course fulfills one of the requirements for access to the DITALS Level I and DITALS Level II certification exams (see the exams page for more details).
The goal of the course is to provide all the knowledge needed to successfully prepare for and pass the exam, while offering an updated theoretical and practical overview of Italian as a foreign or second language teaching methodology — valuable for both aspiring and experienced teachers.

Our trainers are highly qualified teachers with decades of experience in Italian as a foreign or second language classrooms and are officially recognized by the University for Foreigners of Siena as certified DITALS trainers.

Lessons are held once a week for 4 hours, over a total of 8 weeks.

Attendance of at least 24 hours is required to access the Level I exam, and 32 hours for the Level II exam.

Schedule: Tuesdays from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM

The DITALS Certification attests to three different levels of competence in teaching Italian as a foreign or second language, in accordance with the EPG – European Profiling Grid project.

DITALS BASE
Intended especially for teachers whose native language is not Italian — or for anyone beginning their career in teaching Italian as a foreign or second language — it certifies initial competence in teaching Italian to foreigners.

DITALS Level I
Certifies solid general competence in teaching Italian as a foreign language, plus specific expertise for a target learner profile (e.g., children, teenagers, adults, seniors, immigrants, university students, heritage learners, tourism professionals, Catholic clergy, opera singers, U.S. Study Abroad students, and learners sharing a common native language such as Chinese, Arabic, Japanese, Russian, or German).

DITALS Level II
Certifies advanced competence in teaching Italian as a foreign language. It is designed for teachers working in any educational context and with any learner group.
Some of the requirements for Level II admission can be replaced by obtaining the Level I Certification.

The DITALS Level II Certification is among the recognized specialization qualifications required for admission to the A023 teaching category in Italian public schools (Ministerial Decree No. 92, 23 February 2016).
