Our history

Founded in 1978, a few steps from Florence Cathedral, our school offers italian language courses for foreigners, held by highly trained and experienced teachers.

Italian in Florence is recognized by Foreigner University of Siena as an official examination site for CILS (Certification of Italian as a Foreign Language). The school is also a well-know teaching training centre and DITALS official examination site.

Our goal is to guarantee an high teaching standard at a reasonable price, in order to promote italian language and culture throughout the world and help the integration of foreign students interested in a long-term life project in Italy. Italian in Florence is indeed the language school of Centro Internazionale Studenti Giorgio La Pira, a place of hospitality and dialogue, that offers training programs and cultural activities in order to promote the ideal of universal fraternity of Giorgio La Pira, major of Florence from 1951 to 1965.

CILS EXAMS

Our school is an official examination site in Florence for CILS certification (Certification of Italian as a Foreign Language) a qualification offered by the Foreigners University of Siena.

Next CILS exam dates:

  • June 8th 2023(registration before May 8th): Levels*: B2 – C1
  • December 5th 2022 (registration before October 25th): Levels*: B2 – C1

* Level A2 for permit to stay and B1 for italian citizenship are also available
